At
the Landon House, we pride ourselves on delivering maximum wedding
value for a fraction of the price you'd pay for a similar wedding
experience. The 12,000 square-foot Landon House, built in 1754 in
Virginia, continues to thrive as a wedding and office center.
Offering complete privacy on our verdant five-acre estate, your
guests will be amazed at the Landon House wedding experience. We
will do our best to work within your budget and still deliver a
wedding that your guest will be talking about for years to come.
Having hosted well over one hundred weddings for discerning brides
and grooms, we know what we're doing...and we do it very well. When
we say "Create Your Own Legend with a Landon House Wedding", we mean
it! Why host your wedding in a stuffy hotel facility or
over-priced "wedding factory" when we can help you design an amazing
wedding experience at the historic Landon House and save you some
money in the process!
You'll be amazed at
what we are able to deliver to you in terms of our Landon House
Wedding Package. Our brides and grooms have described our weddings
as "casually elegant"...we feel that is a very accurate description
of what we strive to deliver. The incredible 250-year history of
the Landon House lends itself to an amazing experience of just
wandering through the magnificent Landon House structure. Your
guests gaze upon the Civil War "lightning sketches" of Abraham
Lincoln, Jefferson Davis and J.E.B. Stuart on the walls of the
parlor, signed and dated "September 16, 1862" by Civil War soldiers
fighting for their causes. They stroll the idyllic grounds and are
amazed at the 400 year-old might oak tree on the side of Landon.
There is simply no wedding site that compares to the Landon House in
terms of American history. We're not just "another wedding site"
and when you consider our pricing, you'll be amazed as well at how
affordable a a Landon House wedding is.
Couple hosting
their wedding at Landon House may also host their rehearsal dinner
at Landon at a significant discount. By hosting your wedding at the
Landon House, you'll be personally responsible for helping us
to preserve this magnificent historical estate for future
generations to enjoy and appreciate.
Our double veranda, over 100 feet long, greets your guests as they make their way up the historic driveway where the 18th Mississippi Infantry band played “Dixie” as they marched into Stuart’s famed
ball. Your wedding is certain to generate the same kind of excitement that the citizens of Urbana felt nearly 140 years ago when they rode their carriages up to Landon on the night of Stuart’s festivities. Your guests’ anticipation will be nearly overwhelming as they await your arrival on your special day. Of course, you already know that your wedding will be historic…because you will be one of the first couples to celebrate their vows at the magnificent Landon House.
Set back from the “Washington Pike” (now Route 355), Landon is a national treasure that few people, even those from the Frederick area, have ever seen or heard about. It has survived for 250 years for those very reasons. Incredibly, the house remains beautifully intact from its days as a silk mill, girls school and boys military academy.
The original oak floors are made for dancing with plenty of room for your guests to mingle and have a great time.
Our six-acre estate lends itself to leisurely arm-in-arm strolls by your guests. Time seems to stand still…as it should on this most important day.
Those familiar with the legendary cavalryman Stuart know that, above all, he loved to have a good time even in the midst of the Civil War. Dashing, romantic, brave, heroic… “Lee’s eyes” defined the best traits of the Old South and inspired his soldiers like no other general in the war. Stuart’s spirit lives on at Landon and our staff stands poised to attend to your every need and requirement.
Our goal is to enable you to “Create Your Own Legend”…a matrimonial legend made possible when you hold your wedding at the Landon House!
