Frequently
Asked Questions at the Landon House
- Can I host my wedding
ceremony AND reception at the Landon House?
Yes...in fact, we encourage it. There is no ceremony fee at Landon. Why
not just do everything in one place? In fact, we have our own small
chapel at the Landon House where you can have a blessing and then come
around to the front veranda for the larger ceremony.
- How much is a Landon
House wedding and what does it include?
Our price is $65 per guest which includes usage of the Landon House and
estate, delicious, two-entree buffet style meal such as Carved Roasted
turkey and London Broil with all sides, all tables, chairs, linens,
setup, cleanup, use of bride and groom's changing rooms, rehearsal time
and more.
It does not include service coordination fee or taxes.
- What about alcoholic
beverages?
You may bring in your own alcoholic beverages for your wedding at Landon
House. We will be happy to provide a bartender at $35 per hour. This
saves you quite a bit of money. Think about it. Many places make you buy
their liquor services and charge you for an open bar for EVERY guest
even though many guests don't drink or only have one drink. At Landon
House that simply isn't an issue. We also don't get into add-ons like
"corkage fees"...and we don't charge you extra if you go over your
allotted time.
- How about the wedding
cake?
We work closely with Carriage House cakes to provide you with the
wedding cake of your choice. The price is $2.75 per piece and we help
cut the cake at no additional charge. The cake is a separate fee.
- How about the champagne
toast? A horse and carriage?
You provide the champagne. We help to pour it at no charge. A horse and
carriage at Landon is priced at $500.
- What about 'last minute"
weddings...say, in the next couple of months?
We do it all the time. Not a problem.
- How many guests can the
Landon House accommodate?
We've hosted weddings of up to 350 guests...we've also hosted weddings
of 30.
- What about themed
weddings?
We like them a lot. We specialize in historic themes and have hosted
several Civil War-themed weddings and a medieval wedding. They're a
blast and we have plenty of room for them. We can even stage a Civil War
reenactment or arrange a visit from General U.S. Grant or Johnny Reb for
your wedding. Guests love it and remember it forever!
- I have a very limited
budget and I'm trying to save up for a house. Do you have "budget"
weddings?
Yes we do. We can work within just about any type of budget. However,
please keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Let us know what
you're trying to accomplish and we will do our best to make it happen.
We like to say that you don't need to spend the down payment for your
house to have a great wedding at Landon.
- How about decorating?
We don't get involved with the decorating since it is a personal choice.
However, we can show you what other brides have done at Landon that
seems to work well. You are responsible for all clean up and removal of
decorations.
- How do I guarantee my
date at Landon?
We require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the 75 guest package price
of $4,949 to lock in a date. That date becomes yours and we take that
date off the market.
- How about parking? How
long does the wedding and reception last?
We've got plenty of parking at Landon and can arrange an optional
parking attendant for $50. Most weddings last around 4-5 hours...but if
you're guests are having a great time, why make them leave? We're not
standing looking over your shoulder with a stopwatch so we can add on
more fees.
- Are there still dates
available for 2006?
Yes we have plenty of dates available. Of course, May, June, September
and October are the most popular months for weddings. If you're looking
at that time period, let's get together soon for a tour of the historic
Landon House to answer your questions and lock in your date. They go
fast!
- Does Landon House have a
Wedding Fair?
Yes we do. Look for our wedding fair in January.
- What is a Landon House
wedding like?
Many of our brides have described having their wedding at Landon House
as:
"...it was like having a wedding in our own home". The atmosphere is
elegant but casual and conducive to mingling. To be honest, if what you
want is a "fancy-schmancy" $30,000 wedding there are plenty of places
around that will be happy to take your money. However, we feel that you
don't need to spend a ton of money to have a great wedding. It is the
people at the wedding that make it special...and we go out of our way to
make sure that your guests have a great time. YOU are doing US the favor
by selecting Landon...not the other way around. And we also like to let
our couples know that when you host your wedding at Landon House, you
are enabling us to preserve this important historic estate for future
generations to enjoy.
